Streamlining IT Delivery for a UK Construction Project

MountNex

Background

A leading construction company in the UK faced a significant challenge in connecting multiple project sites and maintaining flexibility for a large, multi-year programme. With constrained timelines and a limited IT budget, the organisation needed to rapidly assess and implement solutions that would not only meet their needs but also sustain their ongoing operations.

MountNex was engaged to support the organisation during the Assess and Link phases.

Assess Phase

MountNex began by evaluating key vendors and technologies that could meet the tight delivery schedules imposed by the programme. The focus was on validating the ability of these vendors to provide reliable IT infrastructure across multiple sites while aligning with the project’s long-term goals. Time was a critical factor, and the assessment prioritised vendors that could meet the fast-paced timelines without sacrificing quality or budget.

Link Phase

In the next phase, MountNex facilitated a partnership between the construction company and a technology vendor capable of delivering the required solutions within the defined timeframe. Additionally, the construction company’s internal IT team was upskilled to self-manage the solution. With the partner providing backup support during out-of-hours operations or advising on complex change management.

Outcome

MountNex’s intervention led to a successful implementation of IT infrastructure across multiple sites, ensuring the project’s continuity. By enabling the internal IT team to self-manage and offering guidance for more complex issues, the organisation reduced its reliance on external support and achieved significant cost savings. The project was delivered within the constrained timeframe and under budget.
